In the performance “Changing Fate” Couta uses a needle and threat to stitch the skin of her palm. Through her gestural performance, she redesigns her palm lines as she traces alternative narratives, reflecting on the power of personal choice. Through the feminine act of meticulously stitching and rearranging the lines of her palm, she metaphorically represents the human desire to defy predetermined paths and take control of destiny.
